introverts are not abnormal, nerds, loners, withdrawn, shy, and unfriendly, or lacking in social skills.

introverts enjoy time alone. consider only deep relationships as friends. feel drained after outside activities. are often good listeners. appear calm and self-contained. think then speak or act

introverts have an inward focus. introverts feel highly self-conscious around other people. walking into a crowded room is unnerving. introverts can be extremely witty, just not in front of a lot of people, maybe one or two at a time. they are not neurotic.

introverts process their emotions, thoughts, and observations internally. introverts are more private, and less public. introverts need time to think before responding to a situation. time to develop their ideas by reflecting privately. introverts’ personality traits can be passionate, and sometimes aggressive.

positives of being an introvert: good in one-to-one relationships. nurture long-term relationships. flexible. independent. strong ability to concentrate. self reflective. responsible. creative-goes beyond the barriers in thinking. can analyze complex problems. intelligent. great researcher.

there are less introverts in the world than extroverts.

that is fantastic. there are so many ways that make people different and it occurred to me when i decided to do this post that being an introvert made people think you were a snob or there was something not right about you. while doing this post i came to the realization that a lot of the things that i have a hard times doing are actually b/c i am an introvert not b/c of a mental disorder. and look at some of the people who are introverts. it’s just one more prejudice in this world that needs attention put on it. so, finally i, also, accept that i am an introvert & feel that i had to let go of the way that it effected my life with the outside world. and i do have a difficult time with the outside world. my answer has been & is ear buds & an mp3 walkman plus sunglasses & an open kindle. it’s the armour of the day. people mostly leave me alone. text messaging sometimes works but going back to the kindle, i have an app called “notepad” and i write poetry when ever i am around people, like in waiting rooms. it all works. what puzzles me is that i have moments, probably from the bipolar when i can’t help but talk but usually it’s with one person at a time. always hated parties esp. in college. kitchens were my hangout. now i do not force myself to do things that i know will make me feel uncomfortable and i know i will not enjoy. i think hearing you say in words that “I am proud to be:-) made me think how i feel about being an introvert. thank you for your comment. your words really started my mind thinking further about being an introvert. jen ps. it makes things make much more sense. i think it’s cool to be an introvert. if einstein can do it why not us.

that’s good. lol. sometimes i am strictly an introvert but if i am with certain people one on one FTF i can go wild & witty. but in a group, quiet as a mouse behind shades, ear buds & kindle touch writing poetry. usually no one with approach if they are all respectful. i think that’s where thinking we are snobs comes from when all it is we are doing is creating a wide set of boundaries around ourselves.

maybe there is the touch of extrovert inside. look at meryl streep, she goes into disguise in every character she plays. this allows, in a sense, for her to be extroverted, but when the director yells cut, the introvert probably -presto- comes out & there goes her character.
