Violet Energy
Violet is a combination of blue and red. Red is a focusing, dynamic and active energy while blue is cooling, calming and expansive. Violet brings a new dynamic to the expansion of blue and the activity of red. Red brings practicality to the undirected expansiveness of the blue, and allows more creative energy to emerge. For this reason, violet is associated with imagination and inspiration.
Violet is an important energy for those who use blue and indigo skills in the psychic field. The red in violet offers a grounding effect.

Amethyst Gemstone meaning: Power. Protection. Health.
Crystalline quartz in shades of purple, lilac or mauve is called amethyst, a stone traditionally worn to guard against drunkeness and to instill a sober mind. The word amethyst comes from the Greek meaning “without drunkenness” and amethyst is believed to protect one from poison.
Power Stone
It is used as a dream stone and to help insomnia. Put an amethyst under your pillow to bring about pleasant dreams, or rub it across your forehead to offer relief from a headache.
Protection Stone
Ancient Egyptians used the amethyst guard against guilty and fearful feelings. It has been worn as protection from self-deception, as well as a protection against witchcraft. The amethyst has long been used to open the spiritual and psychic centers, making it one of the power stones. It is also used as a meditation aid when worn as a necklace.
Wisdom Stone
The amethyst is known as the Bishop’s Stone and is still worn by Catholic Bishops. The amethyst symbolizes piety, humility, sincerity and spiritual wisdom. It is thought the amethyst is the perfect stone to symbolize The Age of Aquarius.
Healing properties of Amethyst
Amethyst is a gemstone often worn by healers, as it has the power to focus energy. A healer will usually wear several pieces of jewelry with amethysts set in silver, especially an amethyst necklace. The person to be healed will have an Amethyst to hold while the healing is being done. The healer will place another piece of Amethyst on the area of the body in need of healing, the heart or lungs usually.
Amethyst is used for problems in the blood and in breathing problems. Amethyst crystal clusters are used to keep the air and life force in the home clean and positive.
Amethyst clusters, points or several tumbled Amethysts placed in a window that receives sun most of the day are very beneficial to use in healing and to heal negativity in the home. Place Amethyst clusters, points or several tumbled Amethysts in moonlight and everyone in the home will be feeling calmer. Using an Amethyst as a meditation focus will increase the positive spiritual feelings. Amethyst helps overcome fears and cravings. It also helps relieve headaches.

Most of the work I have with people throughout my career as a psychotherapist has been working with the mystery of Colour. Colour is a living force, an expression of Divine consciousness. Colour must be allowed to tell us how it wishes to be, We cannot impose meaning on a light that is ineffable. If meaning is presupposed, Colour loses numinosity, its particular message is lost.Colour embodies archetypes that underlie reality. In Colour language does the voice of Divinity speak. In Colour, we live and move and have our being. Colour is the source of a new spiritual awakening, a new rainbow covenant with spirit. if only we could cast aside preconceived ideas and imposed spiritual structures: red means this, blue means that. In limiting colour, we limit how we experience it. I hope you do not mind my responding in this way…

niamh, no, i actually love your response. when i reblogged the post of the the purple flower, i mentioned that i wondered why my reaction to purple was so powerful and profound. so, i took the easy way out and googled the meaning of the colour purple and violet was amongst the information i found. it sounded positive so i published it without any thought to the significance of the deeper meaning. i would love to learn more on a psychic level why i become so awe struck whenever i see it. it is such an intense feeling that goes through my whole being. when we don’t understand something, i think one is prone to look for the easy asnwer. it’s good that you called me on it. i think i posted the words only so that i could post the colour. the assortment of images that i found that represented the colour purple just blew me away. that is what i look at when i view my post “the colour purple.” i, also, beleive those who view this post see the same thing or i hope so. the words are not mine but what i found in researching what the colour purple means. one very positive thing came out of my search, i found an amethyst stone for myself. it is on its way as i write this.
you know you can always be honest with me and direct also. how do i listen to the colour purple to understand its meaning for me? when ever i accidentally come upon it, i am literally knocked over by the image of the colour in all its intensity. it is a visceral feeling inside of me. an extreme emotional reaction. thank you for your revelations.
I would love to be able to teach you the meditation I have developed over 30 years of practice. It is the most amazing experience of indwelling the colour and allowing it to speak to you.
we will have to set something up where we work together on the meditation. this would be so good to learn. haveing 30 yrs of practice, that is amazing. my form of meditation is to release thoughts from catching hold into a thinking pattern and doing breathing and also soothing meditative music or sounds that remove the distraction. i concentrate fairly easily when i meditate or when i am doing something creative. it’s everything else where i get distracted too easily. this sounds exciting, lerning to have the colours speaking to me. i know everything is really busy and crazy right now.so we can talk or write about how the best way it is to do this. thanks, jen xox
We will. It is something I have been thinking about for ages. It is not like any other meditation you will have done.
okay, i am willing and able and wanting to learn, now you have me quite curious. something that you have been thinking about. i like that.
I have been teaching this process to many people. I have been thinking about finding a way to teach it on-line. I don’t know if it is possible. This is what I mean!
oh, i understand. that is a great idea. what would you have to do in order for that to happen?
communicate with a group of people (albeit small and intimate) online either by skype conference call or some other method. I don’t know if it would work.
doing it like a conference call makes sense. i’ve never done that but if the number isn’t too high it could probably be coordinated. have you ever done a skype with more than one person before?
Oh Yes! Lots of times, but because of the nature of the material, it might not work. I will have to really think about it.
wow!
impressive research!
loved the post!
