Musical Notes Abstract

Voices In the Night
By Jennifer Kiley
9.17.12

Voices in the night
Friendly sounds
And familiar
They calm my mind
Bring me back from time

Tonight I spoke
So loud and shouting
Shouting out my life
Nightmares I lived through
Not trying
To compare myself to you

My pain is mine
We’re not the same
But both lived our lives
Inside our own pain

Now I am living here
In present time not past
Though childhood touches
Haunt me now
They come back from the past

I live in highs
Sometimes lows
Which triggers shows
No one is sure
No one really knows

Professionals
They try to heal
They listen talk
I am my self
When all the time
Feel like someone else

The high times I write so well
The low times I write so slow
But in the low times
I write so slow and long
To keep my soul from hell

When I am down
I want to drown
To bleed my veins
To stop the pain
I write the rhymes so well

A special friend is helping me
She’s showing me her trust
I see I’m not alone
She is out there
She hears my sound

When I feel the pain
Afraid to shout out to someone
But depression pulls me underground
A place so deep inside my wounds
I couldn’t make a sound

Trying to change my way
To trust a friend I trust
A friend whose patience
Surprises me not her
Her love goes beyond what must

With her help I’ve found my world
Full circle with her love
I find from others
A magic place
Where love just reappears

New friends I’ve found
More open feeling trust
I feel the love returned in kind
That once I’d feared and run
I stay seek and I do find

More open feelings
More secure
Past lies have been undone
My life feels like we won this time
Until we fight again

Woman Of My Dreams
By Jennifer Kiley
9.16.12

Woman of my dreams
Colours of the blending light
Visit me with words unending
So the nightmare stays away
You have power their unbending
Evil dares not touch your wrath
Your protection keeps me safe now
My beliefs my reasons ending
In a truth that is life’s blending
I am free from fear transcending
Sing your colours I believe in
Angels wander in the streaming
Sounding out that love is trending
I am yours I am unending
Immortal souls appear before me
Their beauty unfolds in timeless glory
Voices calling answers soaring
Echoing the words of loving
In my world your life is welcome
All that is creates a giving peace
A chance at life to be forgiven
Send down the rain to save the children
Tell the world that all’s forgiven
Find the peace that good is living
Rock to sleep the babies crying
What a sound that was alarming
From the voices of the children
They need protecting by the willing
Empty the greed that keeps your heart from giving
Discover the generosity of the living
Reach into your heart and start on breathing
Put life back into those who are dying
Give back their purpose feed their children
Feed their thirst you make a living
Share what you have you’ll find in giving
You’ll find a way to refine the score
Your soul will be saved if you find the gifts
To give to those who are dying
Bring them back to life in time
To save their lives so they will live
You’ll feel much better if you lend a hand
And give until you can’t give some more
Now don’t you feel better knowing
You saved more than one life today
One life besides your own
Pay the price send it forward
You’ll then feel the joy in living

When I began this project 5 months ago, I never imagined how it would take over my life...

My husband had been called upon to offer his expertise to Plan International in Niger, where they were setting up refugee camps to cope with those pouring across the Malian border in hopes of escaping the civil war. Niger could ill afford these exiles, as it was already starving.

You told the story well except it isn't a fiction but a reality. Doug, while in Africa helping the people in Niger, was in danger. As we witnessed yestereday's news on 9/11, Al Qaeda killed the US Ambassador. Doug's story is integral to Niamh Clune bringing together the support for Sahel and the creation of Song of Sahel The Anthology to raise aid to help in the aid for Sahel. The world needs to help the starving children and their families. Their soil is ruined. Their lives are in danger from starvation. Global Devastation has effected their land. It is true that the word needs to get out. Through the Anthology, which sounds magnificent, a child created by the creative and determined mind, heart and soul of Niamh Clune will be an expression of Sahel as told through the creativity of poems, photographs, paintings, music and the strength of all who contributed to its total creation. We must spread the word. Draw people to the cause of Sahel and The Anthology Song of Sahel. The Event will take place on Sept. 15th. 24hrs around the clock. I am posting this message along with the Reblog of this post on my blog site. The Secret Keeper - Jennifer Kiley ps, Your fantastic creation of The Anthology Song of Sahel Niamh Clune and all who helped in putting all of this together is a remakable feat.

Some of you will recognize this distinctive style. It is that of Marta Pelrine Bacon's. She is the mystical lady who has allowed us to use her art to create the 'look' of Plum Tree Books. I have plastered Marta's drawings all over our pages.

Marta tells me that she cuts up her novels to make her art. Well! That is one way of relieving editing angst!

It is hard to take off my promotional hat for these occasions, but I will take a break for a moment to say that it has been a tremendous pleasure to work with Niamh Clune on this project in any way that I found was possible. I have met some very special people during the whole process which I feel will develop into very good freindships. I am grateful for the experience and to the people who have been more than generous in helping me. I support and believe strongly in this project and feel hope for Sahel and hope for the events to be great successes. With Love and Appreciation, Jennifer

I have been extraordinarily busy in preparation for this event. I don't think I realised just how much work would be involved when I started this project. First, there is the announcing of it, the call to poets, the hours spent interacting through social media sending out the message in the hope that it might grow wings.

Once people begin to respond, projects take on a life of their own.

There are so many words to describe Niamh Clune but I think I will let her speak for herself in this instance. She has written a post about the Images for Song of Sahel. I've mentioned this everytime I have posted in one form or another. It is an extremely important venture that will aid the children, families and people of Sahel to have food so they will not starve. Their land is ruined from a continuous drought. The children are dying from starvation. They have so little in their small bodies to fall back on. So it doesn't take much for their bodies to fail quickly. Niamh Clune came up with this project of an Anthology and Auciton to raise funds to help. Now I turn over to Dr. Niamh Clune to explain in her own words through this Reblog of her post Images for Song of Sahel. Follow back on the reblog link to read further on what she has written on her blog "ontheplumtree" about Song of Sahel and discover more. There are also many other Creative Projects that she speaks of and she is an author of several books that I, myself, possess that I am reading and rereading because there is so much subtance and creativity in her imagination and in the non-fiction books, the depth of knowledge teaches you different ways of viewing yourself and the world. And an anthology on the entitlement of children to have innocence. Learn about this polymathic artist in more detail and find something new to discover about the generosity and creative talent of this marvelous woman Dr. Niamh Clune. by Jennifer Kiley

How Do We Show Solidarity for those confronting starvation
and death in the Sahel region of Africa?

We do what we can. We use what is God-given and free. We use our talent.

Children cannot eat words. Blinded by starvation, they cannot see pictures.
I wondered at the incongruity of this. Talent has value. It raises awareness.
It inspires giving in others. As the Founder and CEO of Plum Tree Books,
I put out a call across social media for artists, poets, writers and photographers
to join me in a Song Of Sahel.

Song of Sahel is an anthology of poetry, fiction, music, art
and photography. This anthology will be launched worldwide
on September 15th on Facebook. Plum Tree Books will publish
this exciting multi-media kindle and and make it available

an NGO working in the Sahel region of Africa.

Song of Sahel, brings together artists from all over the world,
including the UK, US, Ireland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Canada, South America,

I have contributed a poem to the Anthology for the Song of Sahel. It is titled: “do i know what hunger is?” My answer would be, not in any way close to what the children and people of Sahel have experienced and continue to experience. The starvation and the soil that will not grow the crops they need to eat in order to survive. They need our help and they need it now.
